    Default 3SGTE Question

Hey all, I've recently brought my self an ST185 Celica GT-Four.
It's been at my mechanics for the last couple of weeks getting fixed up for a warrant, during the time it's been away I've brought a blow off valve and a boost tap (and a pod ).
This isn't my first turbo car, but it's the first one that I've had to buy these things for myself, I've scoured the internet looking for how to install both of them and can't find a hell of a lot...

I know where to mount the bov and all that, the only thing I need to know is where to put the vaccuum hose on the intake manifold (the one that comes off of the bov). Pictures would be a big help

And as for the boost tap, all I know is how to get rid of the factory boost controller (that limits my car to 7psi), other than that I wouldn't know what hoses to hook up to where...
Any help would be appreciated, and again pictures would be a big help.

    Cheers.

Threres a small port at the very back of the intake manifold - reacy around it ( put your hand between the firewall and intake manual - it will be dead center on the plenum ) run your vaccum line back into this from your BOV

I hope you got a Plumb back , as the Atmo venting ones will play havoc with your AFM ( the big box in front of the air filter ) and make you run super rich on each gearshift ..

The Boost controller has been covered many times on a number of forums , but i dont have a direct link .. maybe someone ith a tap can share a pic or a tip here ..

Im in Auckland BTW .. Welly would have good weather for turbos seeing ts always Bloody cold down there !

hey Stu, interesting and helpful post. Have you seen the BOV on my girl? I'm thinking perhaps the cause of my disasterous fuel econ miiiight be the BOV.. and explain the peculiar boost readings on shifts etc..

what stu said about where the vac line goes is right on the money too that's where mine is

need to got an air/fuel gauge

Cheers. I had a look and I think I might have found what you're talking about. Should it have a vaccuum cap over top of it? And It's a pretty lonely vaccuum line back there, right?

Any help on the boost tap?

Yup it has a plastic cap over it .. use that

And yes rob , id say it wouldnt be helping

relocate your battery , i use a straight intake mod like the mongrels or lances Barons setup , and swap the atmo to a plumb back .. you should see an improvement in economy and shift response

The bov that I have is sequential, I really like the way it sounds (I got it because my mate had one and I liked it better than most) so I'm not that keen on plumbing it back. What are the ups and downs of having atmosphric compared to plumbed back?

Ive explainied , Noise VS AFM going EEK and stuffing up your fuel mixture.. GT4's like plumbbacks if they are AFM .. If you have a 205 like mine , and atmo is fine , as they run a map sensor which doesnt rely on air flow to map the fuel , it relys on manifold pressure ..

If you want to keep the noise - you may need to further investigate an ECU that doesnt rely on an AFM , like a link , or a wolf ECU

To be honest i have NFI where it went - I can easily run u thru how to do it though , and i still ahve the pics on HD here somewhere ..

I THINK i may have removed the link , as it was taking up hostng space

Save up and get the oddyessy battery first dude - thats the most expensive part of the whole swap and the most important
