    Do you have any old ignition coil ballast resistors laying around?
    Could try one or more of those.

    Just grabbed a motor speed controller kit from jaycar today. $15 exactly what I wanted.

    How much current can they handle?

    10amps and 20 amps if you add another mosfet.

    peak current draw on a Walbro 255(GSS342) is nearly 19 amps! This draw is as if the system was plugged and all pressure with no flow was the situation. Normal amperage is between 8.5 and 12 amps at normal pressure points
