got restrictors in oil lines to turbos? need them?
check compression.
if the motor was rebuilt and their was oil in exhaust, there might be some smoke, but that seems like a crapload...
does it make any funny sounds?
Hey guys
I have a really weird problem I think its bottom end but thought id ask for some opinions and things to check being a toyo noob![]()
Its a jzx81 mark 2 with Mictotec ltx10s (untuned all fresh install engine and all) full 3" exhaust from dumps back (standard dumps) it ran fine for a day or so without smoke at all then once the new front mount got plumbed in it all started going down hill.
I thought it could be the turbos so I pulled off the cooler piping today not a tiny bit of oil in there. (if that means anything)
It doesnt smoke for about 30 secs- 1minute after cold start oh well any advice or opinions would be cool
Heres a video of it after about a minute at idle.

might be the cat?
we have the same problem except not as bad. Is it worse after it comes off boost?
might be the tune on the microtech, although it should not differ THAT much from standard.could be caked on oil in the head or sump?
try checking the oil drain back from the turbos to the block.

dude that looks like the oil seal has gone on the exhaust side hapend to my old turbo mazda no oil on intake side but if you disconnect the dump pipe i bet you will find its leaking oil would take 30 secs to a min for the exhaust to heat up to burn the oil
ps you should be able to smell oil if im right
Not really there is a slight kind of clicking noise sounds like one of the pulleys on the front is out of whack or a bit dry or something? compression test is next noticed the pcv valve is cracked while going over it before dont know if that would cause that amount of smoke but ill replace it when the part comes in see what happens
dumps pipes on stock 1j turbos are not easy to check.
oil in the muffler?

No catalytic converter in it so I dont think it would be that hehe.
Yeah there us a slight smell of oil but not really a great smell to it the car doesnt over heat at all so it cant be the head gasket took it for a good drive and it cleared up a fair bit let it cool for an hour then it was back worse than before bah![]()
could be the piston rings.
the pcv valve shouldnt cause that much smoke.

1) what size oil feed and return line does it have (ID of hose)
2) what turbo is it (later model gt series turbos had internal restrictors, but still may need to have inline restrictors too)
how long has it been smoking like that, because if it is just too much oil to the turbo, and you do fix it, the car will still smoke a bit until you give it a few good runs on the highway to burn up all the oil and shit in the mufflers.
a little oil in the intercooler pipes is just some blow by. If it gets worse, then get a atmo breathing baffled catch can and run all the rocker cover breathers to it and remember to check it often (empty it).
also, you say it happened after the front mount went on... did you happen to block off or re route any breather hoses that use to be connected to old piping? you could be getting a bit of pressure build up too in the crank case. take off the oil filler cap and see if it does it too.

my old ct26 on the 7m smoked that much i thought it was just a blown seal but turned out the oil return lines were half blocked with dry oily shit
it is running stock turbos by the sound of things.Originally Posted by 2jzeee

yeah runnin stock turbs just took it for a drive then it clears up under hard acceleration thought it feels a bit sluggish and comes back about 30 seconds after coming off accel if thats any clue.....
No smoke on hard acceleration = probably not turbo seals. I'd be having a close look at the PCV system.
