Default Dropping an a340e in a soarer

Going to be dropping the auto in the soarer in next couple of weeks. Is it as easy as it looks? Jack underneath, unbolt belhousing, unbolt crossmember and cables etc, then drop...?

Got some quotes and looking around $400+.

Anyone got the part number for 7m rear main seal?

Sounds like you got it sorted might need to loosen engine mount bolts or take them off completely to tilt the motor a bit to get to the top bellhousing bolts as they can be a bitch.

Also dont forget to unbolt tailshaft from diff and remove.

Draining fluid first helps too as it makes it a bit lighter & less messy.

Nobody has mentioned to undo the torque converter bolts !! ( which have to be done ) ... How are you going to drop it out, dont do it by yourself, you will need some help & trolley jack etc .... Dont take off the engine mount bolts otherwise you might end up with the motor falling out as well !!! If you cant get enough angle to get it out, usually dropping the exhaust will do it ... Not a hard job but big & a bit awkward especially on the ground ....Make sure the torque converter is free & turning & pushed back into the bell housing before you start to unbolt the bell housing ( ie ; moved back off the spigot on the crank )
