Default Fitting up a t/timer on Supra mk3 help?

    Hi there people

I have a very basic turbo timer nothing to fancy just an older hks one. I want to use it in my mk3 supra but am wondering how to wire it up to the ignition? It consists of just three wires but i need to know which ones on the ignition you wire it up too? The other two wires on it are just power and earth.

    Any help appreciated

    James

    Hi James,

What colour wires do you have off the timer, or do you know these ones?

In which case your asking which wires in the cars wiring do you use.

Well the Key barrel consists of a constant, accessory, ignition (sometimes two) and a start wire.

You should have three wires off the turbo timer that connect up to Constant, Ignition (must be the correct one if there are two) and usually most turbo timers will also hook upto the accessory wire.

Now to throw a spanner in the works, IF you do have two ignition wires, and you have factory electric radiator fans... the second ignition wire is what controls these fans.
So instead of using the 3rd wire off the turbo timer for the accessory you will join it onto the 2nd ignition wire.

With the timers wires, you should have 3 very thick wires, tipically RED, YELLOW, BLUE.

    RED is the constant,
    YELLOW is the main ignition,
BLUE is the acc OR 2nd ignition.

Then there will be a small thin black wire which is the earth!

NOTE: Colours aren't always the same for every model turbo timer.

CAUTION: Connecting up a turbo timer without any auto electrical knowledge is very dangerous. Connecting it up wrong can cause serious dammage to vehicle, surrounding vehicles, buildings, yourself, other people around and wildlife. At worst can cause death!
