    Default A340 trans fluid level...

Okay, i have an A340 in my hilux, i don't have the dipstick or top half of the tube, it wouldn't help too much unless i wanted to check the fluid from inside the cab anyway.. im going to make up an extension to the tube, and mod a dipstick from something else.. however, i dont know where the trans level should be... is there any way to work it out? or do i just have to get someone to measure their tube and dipstick for me?

The dipstick goes down to the very bottom of the tube but not into the pan. You could put some sort of flexible rod (spare dipstick?) down there to measure the depth exactly
The tube enters the sump pan near the very bottom. The correct level, I've found, is around the top level of the pan(maybe slightly lower), where the gasket is, so maybe 40-50mm from the bottom of the pan. This is off the top of my head, I should realy check mine though. Good luck.

    Marco is about right.
Somewhere around the top of the pan level.

Take a good 7-8 litres to fill.

whoa there nelly... the pan not being that big, and only 40-50mm deep wouldn't hold anywhere near 7-8L.. im guessing from completely empty inc converter you mean?

    Sorry yes.
Completely empty the whole system takes 7-8L.

Last time I dropped the pan, there was only 2L in it from memory.
My dads Prado takes 4L in the pan, so maybe different cars have different pans.

When i changed my trans fluid,3 litres come out of the pan.

I think theres like another 5 ltrs in the Torque converter.

    Take a look at this.
