search an you shall find........
Hi guys,
I have a GX81 Cresta and im wanting to do a brake upgrade to the R32/33 caliper and rotor. Just want to know if there is anything i need to know before doing this i.e i have heard you need a locating spacer made up, is it a simply bolt application? you know stuff like that.
Reason for upgrading/changing is that my brakes a little stuffed.
Help would be great.
Thanks
search an you shall find........
^ what he said, the info is out there but here it is in a nutshell
Easiest way is to use the BA Falcon rotor (298x28mm) and R33 GTS or R32 GT-R caliper. These will all bolt straight up with no alightment issues, you just need to get a spacer ring made up to centre the disc on the Toyota hub (ID 60mm, OD 71.5mm) or sometimes they appear in the classifieds.
If you already have the Skyline discs, then they can be used as well but you will need to space out the caliper 10.8mm due to the shorter hub height of the disc, which will also require longer bolts. That and the locating ring will now require an OD of 66mm to match the Skyline disc. This will obviously give you 10.8mm less clearance to your wheels but if they are known to clear on a Skyline, then they will suit your car (offset not-withstanding). This applies to both the 280mm and 300mm disc & calipers, so just make sure you don't try to use the wrong caliper & disc together.
I have done the R33/BA upgrade on my GX81 so if you need any more info or pics, just let me know.
yes you need a hub spacer.
People sell them on here and ebay for around $40 i think.
Most people upgrade to slotted ba falcon rotors while thier there instead of using the skyline/300zx ones.
but yea been done heaps of time just search there'll be tons of info.
EDIT: ^^^ beat me to it
Cheers
