Default Turbo's comimg out the wazoo

Desperate for help made a mistake in informing friends that i wanted to ditch my standard turbo (ct20) for an after market ball bearing one now i have two mates fighting over who will give me there's one has a garret t03 and claims it would be the best option the other also has a garret but its off an s15 (not sure what model it is) and claims it is easier to fit to my motor (3tgteu) i havent seen either of them yet, but which of these would be the easiest option to fit to the car or is there another turbo which would be a straight swap over any help would be greatly welcomed

The T03 will be able to handle more power and boost... most people get the T03 and change the exhaust to a T04 which gives you the T03/T04 hybrid turbo(high flowed T03)... to have it put on the motor you will either have to change the whole exhaust manifold OR you can get a bracket made for the T03 flange and bolt to the original manifold... now i believe (dont quote me though) that the T03 should handle boost in the 20s to mid 20s, and the hybrid should reach the 30s if not more.

The Nissan S15 turbo is a Garrett T28 BB turbo... its max boost (max safe boost) from memery is about 17psi in its standard form and can reach in the 20-22psi (but this is its extreme max before it would blow)... standard boost on these i believe was set to about 11-12psi on the SR20det... this turbo will have the same problem as the T03 where you will need to change the whole manifold or get a bracket made...

now someone else should be able to confirm this but i also believe a direct bolt up (or the least amount of work needed) would be a CT20b turbo... i cant remember exactly but i believe from the old forums it is the same flange as the CT20 or you may need to elongate a couple of the flange holes on the manifold to get it on... as for boost possibilities i have no idea what PSI ratings these have so i couldnt give you much info there...

    hope this helps...

    cheers

EDIT: lastly if your motor is stock then i would prob go for the S15 turbo, but if the motor is worked or you are going to work it then go for the T03 and build the motor around that turbo

The standard CT20B (gen3 CT26) is a twin entry turbo and not a bolt up for the CT20.

If you had access to a CT20B then it may be worth investigating if it's possible to change the exhaust housings between the two. But I'm assuming you don't and these turbos are quite hard to come by, the last one on eBay going for nearly a grand. The value in these is really for the gen2 3SGTE guys who want a bolt on upgrade.

I don't know much about the T03 or the GT28, but I'd be tryin to find the compressor maps for both and doing the math, like this

if the choce has to be made between those two turbos, the first question is how much power are you after?
the S15 turbo is a really nice little item that spools very quickly, and as stated is good for a little over 1 bar boost. If you're going for more than 200rwkw (which I somehow doubt) then the T03 is your friend.

I assume they are both ex Nissan turbo's. If so the S15 turbo will make basically the same amount of power as the RB20/25 turbo and come on boost a little earlier.

I have seen the CT26 off the 7MGTE used on the standard 3TGTE manifold, apparently only requireing slotting of the stud holes. I believe Jason ran low twelves on the CT26.

thank you for all the advice
the reason for the choice is they are being given to me the t03 has never been used its still boxed, my mate purchased it and on the way to the garage was involved in an accident total write off no car for new turbo, the standard one off the s15 has been rebuilt was going back on the car but at the last minute decided on something bigger not that i am complaining because i get the freebies it sounds like my best option is going to be the standard s15 only because am not going for mass power just want enough to have a little fun.
