    Default Which 4age intake manifold for turbo?

    Which would be better for a smallport 4AGTE?

    The original manifold with the ends swapped or a rwd bigport manifold with a smallport to bigport adapter? As far as I am aware the manifold design is more important for NA as forced induction is more forgiving. I am leaning towards the smallport manifold as I like the look of it better .

    I already have both manifolds and for cost well the cost of the adapter would probably be the same as the cost of converting the smallport manifold so that would be on par.

    Is there any major advantage of one over the other?

    Is the motor a AE101 GZE, or a smallport GE thats had a turbo conversion?

    To me factory Smallport manifold are always better - just for the fact that the TVIS is eliminated... The re-fabrication part isn't that hard.

    What ECU are you intending to run?

    Id prefer to use a smallport everything and just swap the tb around. prob because less fabrications and everything works together from factory. Such as oil drain at the back of the head etc.

    I'd cut and shut the smallport manifold. I don't like the big-smallport converters. The change in port size and spacing happens over a very short thickness and so seems a bit too rapid. Plus you change from 8 runner to 4 in that space too.

    Plus you can sell your genuine JDM tight RWD manifold to a fanboy for profit.

    Rex went to all the trouble of Quad throttles, and then building a custom plenum simply because an ITB to BigPort adaptor came up.

    Then He scrapped the whole lot for the simplicity of a bigport manifold.


    Keep it as simple as possible. Rex would just Cut/Shut the smallport manifold...

    Thanks guys I had 90% decided to use the smallport manifold anyway I was just tempted with the simplicity of bolting up the bigport manifold.

    The motor is a na smallport (being rebuilt with gze pistons) and I will be running a yet to be decided aftermarket ecu.

    Use the Smallport manifold. It has nice runners on it compared to that of a butplug bigport one
