Not sure about what you asked but a mate had a 93 tub on his 80's model dual cab hilux. Looked a bit weird because the tail lights didn't look like they were from the same era but its fitted.
Anyone know if a 92 extra cab tub will fit on an 86 extra cab. Chassis is longer to accomodate the extra extra cab () of the 92 but from pics of a 92 the tub looks the same as my 86?

thanx mate, that's a good start and hopefully someone will know for sure.
86 and 92 are pretty similar style so will look fine

there is NO difference in length with any of the chassis (apart from 4WD and surf) and yes all should bolt straight up.
the times when you have to play with chassis length is if you use the incorrect cab/tray combo
ie single cab with a dualcab tray (then you have to shorten like a bastard)
ive seen a 96 body on an 84 chassis and the owner said it bolts on so yours shouldnt be too hard (probly wiring)
cheers

the tray will bolt on, but the body lines are different so it looks bad and you the gap between the tray and the cab is can either be to close or to far.
86's are more square in the guards compare to 92's

Cheers for that. Kinda weird though as the 92 is a longer extra cab but the tubs look the same length from rear of cab to front of wheel arch....obviously can't be so will need to run a tape over both. I suspect the tub will be a little short on the 86 then i think.Originally Posted by The Real Roadrunner

they do change the body lines on them which can make them look kinda goofy. but im pretty sure if you measure them up they will be within 10-15mm which is well within tolerance (the mounts for the tray should be slotted)
i was informed that a surf body bolts to the 2wd chassis with no mods, HA ive got the pics to prove it doesn't.
shorten chassis 225mm then remake 8 out of the 12 body mounts, move centre bearing xmember blahblahblahblahblah. long story short NO FUN.
cheers

problems with your tray?
Not really, just this one is prepped for paint and smoothed already...saves me the effort.

ahh... much rust in the other one?
let me know if you want to be rid of it/sell/offload/etc/
I have seen an 85/6 4x4 hilux extra cab with a 90's sr5 tray on it
I put a 90's tray on my old 85 4x4. From memory the rear bolt holes didn't quite line up correctly but the length was spot on. Also the front of the tub seemed a lil wider at the wheel arch.
