Hey Guys,
Just got back from the 4WD trial cruise. There was a lil' bit o' carnage, but from all reports
everyone had a great day out. I wasn't even driving, and I had an AWESOME day out
spotting and guiding the other trucks. Damn I gotta go for a drive now tho! And soon!!!![]()
Unfortunately we had a few last minute pullouts from some people
So in the end, it was only Linda and I in her 75 Series Ute
and Bendev (IB) in his Jimny. But that was not going to deter us from letting
this go ahead. After all, we are making HISTORY here people!
So after Linda went HEAPS out of her way to pick me up from my place,
(thanks so much for that Linda, without your lift up there, this couldn't have
taken place), we were on our way back up the F3 toward Newie to mett bendev and go
hit some wheeling action.
Let me just say, full props to Linda, this was her first real 4WD trip, and she drove
like an absolute champ. There were a few white knuckle moments on a few tracks,
but with a few pointers (ie get that foot OFF the clutch! LOL) she had it nailed after
a few hours. She drove a couple of tracks that most blokes would shit themselves on
ESPECIALLY if it was their first time, and ESPECIALLY considering how damn clean
Linda's 75Series is. It is the CLEANEST 75 Ute I HAVE EVER SEEN. Resprayed in
Metalic Purple and fitted out hardcore with EVERYTHING! And even so she drove that
thing like it WAS MEANT TO BE DRIVEN!! Very impressive. Bendev also had a good
drive, although he didn't have andy diff locks, I think he may be making a purchase soon!
IBs Jimny certainly showed that a little truck can....
He managed to pull out Lindas 75 Series, loaded and completely STUCK in a mud bog!!!
Took 4 goes, but the big landy moved up and out in the end. Mind you, the force required
completely bent his rear recovery point, and his rear bumper a bit.
But hell, I was IMPRESSED that a 1.3L Jimny could recover a 2T landcruiser...DAMN!
Dude, if you want me to re-weld that recovery hook, let me know man!
Luckily that was IBs only breakage all day....Linda, had a bit more carnage to report...
Front Windscreen = Stick Smashed through it near where my head was...Got Wood?
Winch = Needs wire re-wound, just kinked from previous usage, shouldn't be too bad
Ute Bed = Small scratch, a little dent, nothing more than BADGES OF HONOUR!
Rear Mud Flap = Bent, but still usable, in a sideways sort a way.
Snorkel Head = Slightly loved by a tree.
Drivers Side-step = Got a little bent on our exit from the trails.
This is a carnage list even I could be proud of!!!![]()

But even so, Linda had a great time. She was there to drive shit, and drive shit she did!
She is very keen to get out there and see what else her AWESOME cruiser is capable of.
Me, I am ITCHING to get my lux back out and at it. I may have to put the Soarer, and
drifting on hold for now, as THIS IS WHERE IT IS AT PEOPLE!! Now that I realise how
much I miss going 4WDing, I am going out to finish up working on the lux so I can get
that thing back on the road. I saw HEAPS of new trails today, and heaps of oldies that
I wanted to try for "good old times" sake. So stay tooned to this space for the next
4WD trip, cause its gonna be real soon,
so y'all come back now, ya hear!
I will have pics and maybe some vids up soon, but right now I gotta go and have a shower
cause I got COVERED in mud by Linda hitting a puddle at 40km/h!!
I'll get you for that Dr Quinn!![]()
Cheers,
Bart
