yeah i wish i could get splits in bigger sizes but it looks like the only ones i can get are the toyota units in the stock size. ill probaly get some more 205R16C in either the dunlops of the goodies just depending on cost. the benefit of the dunlop is that ill then have a nice set of 6 all matching that i can then keep them all fresh and in rotation.

I'm chomping at the bit to get out there and get the Lux dirty haha.

I've been tidying up some of the wiring in the engine bay and fixing the battery clamp as I had to get a new battery and the new one was slightly smaller than the old one.

Last night I took my winch out of the bull-bar, was a bit of a shit fight as I'd never done it before so I didn't know what was bolted where. Took a few hours and some cursing but the bull-bar finally came off, the condition of the winch cable was shocking, I think the previous owner's kids must have wound the winch up or something, it took me and my old man about 20 minutes with 3 screwdrivers and a hammer to get the cable of the winch drum.






I'll bolt the bull-bar back up this arvo, and attach my lights and aerial back up, and then I'm all set for some wheelin'. I'm gonna hard wire the winch to a spare battery I have and test it to see if it actually is fucked or if it was just the winch cable binding up the winch drum and not letting it work as it's suppose to. If I have to get it fixed I'll get the Winch Doctor to reco it for me, then I'll throw a Dynamica Rope on it and put it back in in a few weeks, but as Bart said I won't need it for the upcoming cruise, what with so many support vehicles on hand haha.

good work dude,
That winch cable is pretty farked. Good to see you are getting dynamica rope.
it is actually stronger than wire, and it does'nt rust, or barb your fingers, and its like
100 times lighter. BUT you need to carry some old carpet to place
on rocks that the rope is sliding against (if needs be) as the rope itself is much more
vunerable to abrasion damage.

most of the people involved have nominated the 24th and 25th for this to go down,
will you have your truck back and working by then?

Yeah dude I'll be sweet for that weekend, I drove the Lux to work today and it ran sweet as so yeah I'm all ready to roll. Where abouts would be the best place to put a rated recovery hook on the front end do you reckon? That's the only thing the Lux is missing.

Hey dude,

the only place you can put it is just offset from the body mounts at the front.
You will see there is 2 bolts about 2.5" apart, they are exactly the same spacing as a
recovery hook (just get one from repco that is rated). Or go to a wrecker and get a
prado recovery hook, they are the same, but toyota.

bolt yer bar back on, and see if you can still get the recovery hook onto those 2 bolts.
otherwise, you'll need to mod your bar if possible to accept it. That and I suppose your
bar will have 2 recovery points on it like mine does. but more is better. I havew 4 recovery
hooks on the front of my lux!!! WOOT!

4WDing is getting outlawed accross this fine country by government bodies in
co-hoots with the greenies, I do not want to have another track closed by them due to
"randoms" finding out about it and heading up there with 5 other inexperienced rigs
only to destroy the track and/or themselves and/or their vehicles. Then even worse,
they come back and blame me for telling them about it.
Such is life and our current society. It sucks balls, but this is the way it is.

Those that are definately keen to come, and have PM'd me their details will receive a
PM or an SMS very shortly with the time and location, I just want to give everyone time
to agree to the Saturday.

Sorry for this guys, its just that I want us to enjoy these tracks, but I don't want to
loose them either.

no no offence i know 100% what you mean, i like a brisk country drive in the mr2 and its the same story all it would take is someone malicious to know where im planning on going and when to casue problems. i was expecting a pm reply
