Tell us what motor it's off dude!
just want to make sure...
i took off my distributor to have the o-rings replaced and i want to put it back.
based on the manual, i should align this hole with the mark
and here how it looks like at the rotor's position...

what cylinder its pointing at depends on where the motor is ie TDC or not. at TDC #1 should have just fired. put the motor to TDC or 10deg before and than put your dizzy in right and then put the cap on for a quick reference on whats about to fire.

The position you have the Dizzy set up at is the correct position if the engine is at Top Dead Centre. Set cylinder #1 to TDC and check a couple of times both on the crank pulley and cam indicator through the oil filler.
Insert the dizzy back in carefully and off you go.
Check the timing when your done.
And look forward to hopefully no more leaky dizzy seal. Although I have been told there is another seal in there, if indeed it continues to leak.
