If you get f**ked ones from a wreckers it will still be cheaper than buying new ones, just find a SV21 with fairly low K's, I would say theres a 95% chance of getting good ones from a Wrecker
Hi,
It's probably a P.I.T.A. question, but I have a P.I.T.A. problem to fix.
Does anyone know if you can still buy the spring loaded switches that turn the interior light on and off for an SV21 camry??
And if so, anywhere in Brisbane or surrounding areas?
I asked Toyota, but they are no longer available and they weren't sure if switches for a newer model will fit - maybe one of you Toyota gurus might know?
two of ours are stuffed ( they only turn the light off if you push the switch in hard and wiggle it) - I found this problem after a flat battery![]()
I thought of the wreckers, but I run the risk of getting worn ones like I already have, so I think brand new ones are the go.
Cheers.

you can either pull out yours and clean off the rust... or...
get some generic ones from jaycar and use them

Might also be worth a look if you can open them up. Probably just dirty contacts stoppping them working properly. Give them a clean and they should be right.

Jaycar have universal ones...

Not sure if they will help?
I also bought a bag full of ones from Jaycar a year or two back, and they were more like the metal ones from the celicas. Some stores may still have 'em

jaycar/electus used to have some like these.. but with a black plastic inner.. so it would never rust, and you could cut it down to size

Yeah, they were the ones I bought
You can probably still get em...
If they only go off if you have to push them in hard & wriggle them its not a dirty contact issue, if you remove the switches & inspect them you may find the switches are touching something inside the pillar in the car, or there is something touching the contacts & keeping them bridged ...Its just an earth path, so look for any bare bits of metal etc that they could be touching ... or even cut insulation on the earth wire they hook up to ..
Clean them out by spraying wd40 into them and wiggling them a few times, it worked for me,.

Thanks for the advice guys,
I'll try cleaning them first ( I had another look and they have a sort of "gritty" feel as you push them in, so as you said maybe a clean will help.
Failing that, there's a Jaycar store 5 mins away.
Thanks again.
Andrew.
