    Default gasket kits

What do the genuine toyota gasket 'kits' come with? Do they include things rear main, camshaft seals or just purely gaskets? Also, do they include the head gasket?

Ive always got gaskets , seals , valve stem seals , o-rings , head-gasket etc etc when buying 7MGTE head gaskets sets.

What are you looking to get full engine gasket set ? Head gasket set ?

Full gasket kit should include all seals like mains, cam etc as well as O rings, aluminium washers, valve stem seals etc.

Which gasket kit are you after?
    YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
    12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.

Im after a kit for a 1ggte. I have to pull the crank out and replace the mains and big ends but I want to check the rings so I guess the head has to come off. So I figured may as well just get a gasket kit rather than chase the different seals.

    That price seems very good.

The full rebuild gasket kit will include the turbo dump pipe seals, oil feed/drain gaskets as will as the copper washers for the banjos.

Sorry Mate, am i missing something?

Why would that make much difference? Can CHT only supply them for gen1/2?

    Cheers,

I think he is referring to thge emgine being Gen3, meaning his only option for big end bearings is Genuine Toyota.

still weighing up the options here. I always thought if the 1G shat itself I wouldnt rebuild it and Id replace it with a 1UZ. However in reguards to the big end bearings, I was under the impression that if you machine the crank big end journals(?) down to 42mm, you could use the rods from an earlier 1G that had 42mm big ends and use 4K bearings.

    That is the case yes.....

    You then way up options...
    1. Buy new 44mm genuine bearings, grind/polish crank, and re-assemble

    2. Grind crank down to 42mm, find/buy a set of early rods, descent bearings and re-assemble.

Cost wise, probably pretty similar, depending how much you pay for a set of rods.

Any idea of the rough cost of option 1 & 2?

    Nah, not really sorry.

Although I also am in the process of doing this. I am going the direction of option 2, in order to get some better quality bearings in place. The 4K bearings, I have sold for around $35-40 a set (ACL Race 4K bearing set, 4 cyls). You need to buy 2 sets of these.

Grinding of the crank will probably vary from machine shop to shop. I havn't got this far, as I am looking for a crank to use after finding mine is cracked.

Not sure on price of the genuine bearings, but I do know that there no where near as cheap as the 4K ones.
