What would cause ECL not to work?
Hey guys this ones been pestering me for a while now.
I'm trying to get my engine check light to work, but it doesn't want to work.
After alot of fucking about i've narrowed the problem down to the ECU not triggering the W pin. The ECL circuit is fine; ie. connecting the wire to ground causes the light to come on.
So does anyone know why the W wouldn't be responding at all?
The guy who did the wiring to get the car running didn't do a particularly flash job.
Details are:
1g-gte Gen 3
Factory Manual ECU
Basically stock
In a GX81 chaser
Cheers also hope I've posted in the correct place

Re: What would cause ECL not to work?
ECL doesnt work at all,
tried bridging the t and e1 plugs that seems to work but doesnt cause the light to come on.
The circuit is definatly hooked up right, Have checked for faulty caps, ECU appears to be in good nick.
Even if there were no faults the light would throw out a all clear signal wouldnt it?
I certainly hope my ECU isn't fried

Re: What would cause ECL not to work?
Well if you think you've narrowed it down to that W pin then test that wire from the ecu to the warning light, could be just a buggered wire.

Re: What would cause ECL not to work?
As I said, circuit works fine just getting no signal from W.
If I take wire off've ECU and ground it the light come on.

Re: What would cause ECL not to work?
you might be onto something with the original ECL being an LED.
Too bad I never got a good look at the car the engine came out of.
Was a GA70 supra.
Oh and yep checked directly off've the pcb

Re: What would cause ECL not to work?
My car is a standard globe, the supra could've had either or.
I enquired about some GA70 diagrams but never got a reply.
