okay this is the important part of the head thats on the motor

Okay the head on my motor is unuseable due to a crack that weeps oil into the number 1 exhaust port. I was under the impression it was a gen 2 head. I bought another rebuilt gen 2 head and it is quite different, in particular the cam cover will not fit and the holes where the fuel rail fits are different and also the injector holes in the head are 16mm on the motor and 18mm on the spare head. I guess the simplest option would be to get another head the same so everything swaps over -if I can identify what I have. otherwise it means getting another cam cover and modifying the other head so the fuel rail bolts up

looks like a gen1 head to me...
first head is gen 1 second one is gen 2
Cool, so are there performance benifits of going for the gen 2 over the gen 1?

165 = gen1
185 = gen2
205 = gen3

Thanks, but are those differences due to head design? Or other things presumeably. I have heard the gen 3 head is a heap better but what of the gen2 over gen1?
