    Default MX83 diff question

    Hi all

    Yet another mx83 diff question.

Does the LSD and open diff use the same housing?

Is it just the internals that are different?

Can LSD internals be swapped into an open housing??

I know this is really the same question put in three different ways.

    Andrew.

Should be the same housing although the axles are different between the open and lsd

housings are the same, I had the lsd and open diff next to each other, and there was no difference i could spot.

As for the axle stubs, i'm not sure what the go is there.... important part is the pumpkin bolted straight in

I have a JZA80 Supra Torsen bolted into mine with the stub axles. The stub axles are slightly longer and have clips that retain in the centre. Same bearings, just used old crown wheel. Been running it for nearly 2 years now

That is amazing considering the JZA80 lsd is an A series and the MX83 is a G series
I used JZA70 torsen lsd and axles in mine.

    Talking Re: MX83 diff question

I should clarify, I was told it was from a JZA80, but to make sure it would suit me, I made him measure the bearing seat diameter, centre width, crown wheel mounting hole spacing and outside diameter where the crown wheel bolted on. The measurements all matched the MX83 diff centre, so I bought it. He may not have actually known what it came from (ebay)

May have been JZX90/100. I'm using a JZA70 4.3 R&P in my car no problems.
