No need, as long as you have cleaned the head and block properly and tention the bolts to spec all will be fine.

There is a spray called "holymar"(spelling) that acl make. Also there is a copper spray but i'm pretty sure that is only for metal headgaskets..

Are you using a paper gasket or metal?and what engine is it?

Should? NO, of course not, just because some twit mouths it!
If you can find anything, anywhere, in any factory service manual for any Toyota about using some goop, I'd be very surprise, but can just about guarantee right now that you won't find it. You may find something from some other manufacturer, but I'm pretty sure it will ONLY mention a very light smear around water passages & never on its fire/sealing ring.

Then again, all these 'testimonials' might confirm that you can't do much harm.

Ive used hylomar on all the head gaskets I've done, and its worked fine for me. I use it on most gaskets, it makes taking them off much easier.

the spray is called copper coat and it should be used in any serious engine build especially turbo engines. this advice came from wayne mankhen over 25 years ago .if you rekon you know more about turbo,s or engines than him ,you are very smart. in speedway and circut circles it is considered the norm, but not for mls or graphite head gaskets. as a matter of fact i wouldn,t wipe my arse with a graphite gasket especially if its a durapro. cheers bigwad
