Are you sure this isnt' your problem tooch? it might be worth setting one up... only costs about $10 to do and it might fix your problem!

My starter motor has been fuxxoring up lately, basically when you turn the key, the solenoid engages but the motor either won't spin at all, or takes 5 seconds or so until it starts to spin over. The gay thing is that sometimes it will work perfectly for days, but then play up again in the morning, which makes it hard to diagnose. I pulled the actual motor part out of the starter and inspected it, seemed very clean, as did the brushes, so when I re-installed it I gave the 2 power wires on the starter unit a bit of a spray and clean, and it seemed to come good for a few days.
But now it's started playing up again, I'm leaning towards the magnetic switch being faulty?
I don't wanna go replacing the starter motor if it turns out to be something else though. Any suggestions on what else to check? The starter relay appears to be behaving.

*hearts* his 4age powered KE70 Panelvan!
Hi, Im enthused about corollas..
Ok so it did it again this morning, and it seems that if I turn the key back and forth a few times then it works eventually. Wtf.
Thanks for that link Andrew, I was looking for that one![]()
Maybe something also simple to check is all your earths.
Im getting exactly the same problem with my starter...i think the throwout gear isnt engaging on the flywheel properly, as when im having this problem, i let it roll a bit then engage a gear to rotate the flywheel, then it works a treat....
im just chalkin it up to a 17 y/o old starter that could do with a rebuild![]()
