differences between GZE gens

Hey guys.. the GZE in the 101 has f##ked itself over so in need of a new motor.
if I just go out.. find a GZE and dump it in.. is it as simple as that or are there different series of the GZE and the wiring can vary for some.. main concern is that i dont want to pull the old one out and put the new one in and not be able to wire it straight back up if different gzes have differnt looms.

how can i determin what i have, this gze does not belong in this car as its a GTAPEX nota GTZ

There are different series some run map while others run AFM, for starters you will need another AE101 GZE for emissions reasons and it should be from the same year of manufacture or newer than the current engine or atleast meet the same emissions standards.

There are a few basic types the you need to firgure out which one you have

The bigport dizzy and afm
Bigport coil pack and afm
Smallport coilpack and map

(i think there is one othe incarnation of the smallport aswell

no dizzy..

has coil packs and no AFM.

Then that's what you look for.
if you can drop the sump, look for some little oil squirters - yours should have them too. That's how you can easily pick the later model smallport from the earlier bottom ends,
