Power Mirrors - No Go

hey all,

Picked up some power mirrors from the wreckers today for my 2000 Hilux.

As usual they assure me that they work blah blah blah

Get them home, and first task is to make sure they work and what wires do what.

Turned on the Bench top power supple 12VDC at half the current (0-3A) and got some alligator clips and started trying to get the mirrors to move. No Luck. So I cranked the current up to full - 3Amps and still got nothing on any combination of wires.

Thought this is not good, so I took the mirrors out to the car with the alligator clips, popped the bonnet and hooked it straight to the battery, still no go.

I am thinking the mirrors are FUCT. Both are the same??

What am I doing wrong before I go give the wrecker a serve.

I called my auto elec mate and he said they should have definitely worked off the car battery.

All leads were fused with 1A inline fuses, no fuses were blown.

what pins are you trying on the plug? and how many wires on each mirror? and resistance across the pins was?

older toyotas have (on each mirror) a common pin for both motors and a seperate wire to each motor - 3 in total.

There are 3 wires to each mirror.

Brown, Black and Red.

My mate had a service manual for a Hi-Ace so we looked up if there was a wiring diagram for power mirrors and there was, it had the same colour coded wires as what I had.

It said 1 wire was common (Brown from memory), X axis was Black, and Y axis was Red. Tried that and still no go.

I will put the multimeter across the wires again, I cannot remember what the readings were. I'm pretty sure it was a low resistance.

They are genuine Toyota Mirrors off the same year model hilux.

Any other pointers?
