totally different
3 bolts, maybe different bore spacing?
do you have DCOE there? i can measure port spacing here
Just curious the Black top ITB will take a DCOE trumpet, Im just curious is the bottom mount flange a DCOE aswell??
Tried google couldnt find much info

i thought not,but was looking at a manifold on the web and one side looked like a backward DCOE, i guess thats the head side?
i looked around for quite a while chasing trumpets for bt 4age because all anyone ever had was dcoe pattern. i ended up finding some on ebay. they are fairly short but they were needed so eh.
blacktop bolt spacing is about 80mm. i dont remember what they said dcoe was.
quick Q but. what does dcoe actually stand for??

The head side shape is totally different on the BT, from memory the injectors sit right up in the ports and unlike the ST ones the head also has the cutout.
This is the only pic I could find:
I'm not too sure about the spacing because I forgot what it was but if memory serves me well it is even.

whats the bolt spacing for the BT trumpets? same as ST?
bolt pattern on the BT vs ST ITBs is the same.
what are you fitting them too? it would seem the the BT ones ar epossibly too large for a 4age

botl pattern for the TB to manifold is same, but pattern for the trumpets is different (iirc)

ummm, what makes you think this as they are both 1.6L and share alot of the same design.Originally Posted by Mr Revhead
not sure on the BT throttles bolting to a ST pattern because im pretty sure they dont but id have to go home to check.

also they appear to work quite well on much larger engines.
which says to me they are quite probably on the large size for a 4age.
so imo the 20v ones would be better for a alot of 4age applications.

SU 1-3/4 intake trumpets fit , I was going too use some for my BT ITB'S but in the end ordered the ones from meridian motorsports. They come in various lenghths also and are a lot cheaper than the aluminium ones.

wait a minute are you trying to say that toyota F#cked up on there mass production BT 20v 1600cc 4age engine? i think you will find TRD use the BT ones because of ease of availability (mass produced already) and because they were big enough for the job.Originally Posted by Mr Revhead
have you read what merc-blue wants to put them on? a 16v 4a with big cams and a "built to rev" bottom end.
and which 20v ones are you talking about? ST are 43mm iirc and BT are 45mm iirc. ive used 50mm throttles on a BT20v and had no probs with them.

I'm with Mr Revhead. I'd say the smaller 43mm ones and you'd be better off. What really matters is the length of the trumpet, but no-one has the luxury of choice with OEM parts.
The problem here is the 20v engines have 3 inlet ports over the 16v's 2 inlet ports. The 20v will naturally flow more air and so the components of its intake system are designed to do so as well. If this guy is building a high revving 16v he will have to revise his entire intake manifold and throttle system at some stage anyway to make the intake charge flow fast enough.
imo toyota cocked many things with the 20v
look at all the changes from the ST to the BT. and its not really a whole lot better.
look at the STs factory tune. its rubbish.
re TRD, yes big enough... for a 250plus hp 2 litre.... and iv seen them used sucsessfully on some engines kicking out a lot more per cyl than that
you prob can run 50mm ones with no problems. but can you say you make more power with 50mm than 43? then again i dont know the spec of your engine.
im not saying i know all, but iv seen enough evidence to suggest the smaller ones will be better for a lot of engines that are running larger ones.
