Default Excessive play in steering - Mz20

Went to get my car RW and the guy picked up on the play in steering. Because of this he reckons replace the steering rack mounts and also the lower ball joint rubbers.

Jacked the car up yesterday and got no idea where he got the idea about the steering rack, but it looks like its pretty new / recon and the actual mounts are in perfect condition. Lower ball joint rubbers look fairly bad but I am pretty sure they will not be causing the amount of play I am getting.

Apart from replacing these what else should I check out? I hear somewhere the unijoints from the thing going into the rack...?

jack the front of the car up, move the wheel sisde to side, see if there is anymovement in the tie rod ends,

ball joints can and will give you alot of play in the steering, as when you turn the ball joint will flop to the side, depending which way your turning,

the rack can look recond, but they might have just replaced the seal in the reack, and not replaced the INNER tie rods,

id say replace the bal joints and go from there
