    Default Z20 / A70 Tailshaft

    Just wondering the differences between the two tailshafts if anyone knows..

    Assuming both are R154 equipped, is it the rear part of the shaft that is different between the two models or the front half?

    I know the Z20's are slightly longer and therefore a catback exhaust coming off an A70 need to be slightly lengthened to accommodate this.

    How does this relate tailshaft wise, or is there no difference at all?

    yes Z20 rear section is longer.

    i run the supra front half from the R154 to the centre, and the Z20 tailshaft rear section from there back to the diff..

    i got an R154 soarer tailshaft with mine, i used the soarer front section (same between supra and soarer) and the supra rear.

    as has been said, supra rear section is shorter.

    autoand manual front section differ by about 25mm, you CAN use the auto shaft in the manual box, however the yoke doesnt seat far enough into the box to feel safe about putting any serious torque through it.

    enough to putter to the tailshaft shop to get a newy made up, but by no means for anything more than that.

    yeah, alternatively i have a auto soarer front tailshaft (a340 to centre bearing), and JZA70 supra rear section (centre bearing to differential) sitting spare if you need one part or another...

    Sweet as, that's all i needed to know thanks guys!

    I was aware of the front half auto & manual being different, never knew it would actually drive though! The reason i ask is i am getting an R154 front half only which might be from a Z20 - and wanted to see if this will go onto my rear JZA70 half... sounds like all shall be good.

    I have no need for a 1 peice when i have the bits to make a perfectly good 2 peice.. Casey missed that point too.
