Jaycar speedo corrector MKII and an RN85 Hilux

Has anyone ever checked the signal from their speed sensor? My Hilux is an electrical sensor and I was going to install my speedo adjuster Mk2 to compensate for the different wheels and diff ratio but found that the signal was as high as 13V and very irregular (the car was on jacks). I was connected to the blue wire behind the instrument cluster. I double checked the signal again with a better multimeter and couldn't get the signal out of the millivolts range while driving down the highway.
Anyone out there that can help?

I set mine up with a power drill (saved driving)
I just followed the instructions about testing the cable signals and set the unit up to work.

Although I believe the mark2 is more plug and play ?


There are 3 wires on the speed sensor.
Power, Earth, Signal.
I wouldn't know if your blue wire is one of these?
Neither of these are SPD, SP1 or SP2 though.

Yeah the MKII can automatically detect and set what type of signal your car uses and you swap jumpers over to use the pull up or pull down resistors instead of soldering in links. My gregory's w/shop manual shows a blue wire and a green/red wire running between the speed sensor and the speedo. I assumed the signal was the blue wire as the green/red colour scheme is used a couple of times and the other green/reds go to ground.
