Okay, i'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and humour your question. Yes, with a bit of love, it should fit, it's about the same size as a 1JZGTE. That said, I hope you only like going in straight lines, cos it's going to have so much weight over the front it's going to be like a lead-tipped arrow.

Harder springs will stop it sitting with its arse in the air, they aren't going to be able to make it handle properly though, the weight distribution will be fucked.

    1) buy skyline engine for next to nothing
    2) sell skyline engine
    3) put a more suitable engine in celica
    4) profit

oops need to swap 3 and 4 around

    =teh win.

Seriously, if you want to be different and put an RB25 in a TA23 then go for it, with some shoehorning and many many custom bits it would fit, and probably work pretty nicely.

In all honesty whatever money you save in getting the engine will be spent on parts to make it all work. There are other engines that would be a more suitable fit like the 1G, or if you are a little adventurous the 1J series.

Just also remember there are engine capacity laws to comply with(TA23 came with a 1.6L) and I'm pretty sure the RB25 is 2.5L, you'd also need to get it engineered.

If you can get it to work I'd take my hat off to you, but please do all the research before starting out.

*edit* Also getting the engine in is just part of the puzzle, think about the transmission, a T50 gearbox would never be able to stand up to a RB25 turbo charged monster, and then there's the diff! *edit*

Do it. After all it will only cost you the cost of the engine plus half a tank of fuel, so what's stopping you? Should have it running in a weekend if you get a friend to help.

Skyline engine and box mated to a modified TA23 tailshaft. You'd also want to check the legalities of shoehorning a 2.5 Turbo into a car that came with a 1.6L engine and rear drum brakes - this thing will most definately have to be engineered.

You will also be pissing off a lot of diehard Toyota purists (of which I am one) by putting a Pissant engine into a classic Toyota shell but hey - your car right? Just make sure your wallet is fat enough to overcome the inevitable headaches, and I mean FAT.

The more you spend on fitting the engine, the more you will be asking "why did I bother"...
