    Default Upgraded Sway-Bar Links

    Hey guys,

I am currently in the process of upgrading my GZ20 Soarer Rear Sway-Bar.
I have just purchased the Whiteline 22mm 3-way adjustable sway-bar
    to suit Z20/A70 chassis.
And I just hooked my mate up with one to suit a MX83 cressida.

If anyone wants one of these adjustable sway-bars, or non adjustable just PM me as
I can get you a good price on these at the moment, for most popular toyotas too

The only thing is, this being a 22mm bar, I wanted to upgrade my sway-bar links too.

Now with the links, I can get a fixed height link, made from hardened/galvinised steel
with urethane bushes either end and high-tensile bolts. These are $35.00 each link
and are just a much better replacement unit for the stock links.
    OR
I can get an adjustable height link, which is more "race-spec" and consists of two
heim joints (or rose joints) screwed into an anodised aluminium turnbuckle. These
can be winded out or in for adjustment to suit any application. These are $65 each link.

What are the specific benefits, if any, of the second, more expensive adjustable items?
Both these links are a massive upgrade on the shitty plastic links that come standard.
I just wanna buy the right one first time.
I'll post pics when the bloke sends em to me.

    Cheers,
    Bart

I don't see the point in going the second more expensive item, unless its a dedicated track car it is some major overkill, the first option will do the job intended and i don't think you will be dissapointed with them.

Save your money for more important things

the only benefit the rosejointed items have with the adjustment is that you can adjust the length of them to suit your application. it doesnt change the rate of the bar.. if you can get a bushed link in the correct length at half the price get that.

    That's what I was thinking.

So there is no actual benefit to adjusting the length of the link?
It is more where that link attatches to the sway-bar that adjusts stiffness?

Would the rose-joint jobbies be a harsher ride you rekon??

    pretty much,

in theory the rose jointed ones will be harsher but i woudlnt say significantly (ive got rosejointed links for my swaybars - as well as other suspension joints) and i cant say the sway bar links made a significant difference to harshness but my car is expcetionally harsh as it is.

also the rose jointed ones wont last as long as bushed ones.

I thought all Whiteline swaybars came with endlinks? Mine did...

And yeh, just buy the normal non-adj type ones. If you do get adj ones your only going to adjust them once and then leave them for the rest of their days.

no not all. you only get the links if you buy the kit bundle. can can generally just buy the raw bar.

The sway bars come with the links for the MA61 and other cars with that type suspension.
as well as the "D" bushes and all other mounting brackets.

but for the Z20 and MX83 kits at least, you get the mounting brackets, the "D" bushes,
but they suggest reusing the standard links.

I asked if I could get the end links with the sway bar for a Z20/A70 and he said he didn't
have an "off the shelf" item to suit, but he could find/make me one if I got him the length
of the standard plastic link. (you'd think they'd have measured this when they made the
bar, but alas, it appears not.)
