Default after market ECU on 1ggte...

was thinking the other day about the microtech setup on my 1ggte... and i was trying to figure out if there is a way i can hook up a air temp sensor for it....

if anyone else has hooked one up/runs a differant type of one, could you give some info on it...

    thanks.

It goes in the plenum if not as close to the plenum as possible, tap a hole in the plenum while its off the car so no shavings/debris get into the engine when you start it, or buy a "socket" which comes in ally stainless or mild steel with the desired thread already taped into it and you simply weld it into the cooler pipe as close to the plenum as possible.

You can get away without running one for a while, it will just run rich as it will think the temp is -20 which will add more fuel than it would if it was at 30

But for fuel consumption and best power get one in there somewhere.

    Good luck.

but the problem is, i think the 1ggte has the air temp sensor in the airflow meter from the factory... and the microtech is setup for a 2jzgte loom.... pretty much if a 2jzgte has a individual air temp sensor i could try get one to use....

otherwise its shit creek once again on the performance part side for 1ggte's .... not that thats a new thing so far

The microtech will get rid of the afm, deeming the afm useless it will run off a map sensor to sense air coming into the engine and a seperate air temp sensor to sense the temp of the air.

The loom will have wiring for the air temp sensor, if it doesnt but it will, buy a new one from microtech they'll only be around 80 dollars.

i know this, i have it tuned all sweet (wide band O2 and knock sensor) ... but i would like to have the re-assurance that when its a hot day, it isnt going to run to much timing for the air temp that it has....

I dont know if the microtech supports that as i run a haltech, but if it does zero out the ignition advance vs air temp map and its problem solved until you get the sensor.

the problem is finding out if i can get the sensor off a 2jzgte (or if its in the airflow meter also) because i will just hook it up off a 2jz one....

doesnt matter if the timing vs air temp is all zero'd (which it is cause i zero'd them) it will still ping on a hot day vs a cold day...

microtech will sell compatiable sensors, buy one, possibly the 2j sensor will work, its just as easy to buy a new one, saves finding one if you dont have one lieing around.

Give them a call, Im sure almost any air temp sensor would be suitable there just a simple two wire 5v sensor, go to the wreckers and get one off a camira?? or some commodores have them...

yeah im not sure if they can have a reverse polarity though... like how some sensors are 0-5 while some are 5-0. i might have a dig at the wreckers and give that a try

New air temp sensors from a VN-VT commodore are about $30 from holden... And this is what most computers are designed for... I know toyota sensors work well too.
