pros: obviously quieter and less heat thru the firewall

cons: looks like shite and is heavy-ish

depends how you spray it, i sprayed my old mini panelvan bay with it,, cleaned it all back to bare metal, primed it, then sprayed it on, had a nice glossy smooth finish, and after a few days, drys ROCK hard.

spray the inside of your firewall instead. thats what i did.

EDIT: using the stuff thats supposed to be painted over not the stuff that stays tacky

If you really want to do it, I recommend using the foil backed stuff car stereo shops usually sell, and don't cover the whole engine bay, just the firewall. That should provide some useful improvement, won't look like ass if you do it correctly and has the added bonus of a minor amount of heat reflection.

I am so anti fat cars it isn't funny but in a performance type car there is no way I would even consider adding weight to the car just to make it a little quieter. I like to hear my engine

check out my tercel. i have the entire engine bay painted with the white and then sprayed over with florescent (spelling?) orange, nice when you have to get under the hood at night, i feel its worth it quieted it down a bit and the spray stuff would only add what... like 5lbs at MOST. foil back sticky stuff will start to add weight fast but you dont have to cover everything in order for it to have effect.
