Fuchs 10-40 synthetic for the street, Castrol Edge 10-60 synthetic for track days. Both seem to work well for their applications
Hey guys,
ATM im building my Toyota Cressida for drift which has a 1JZ-GTE in it![]()
To all of those slyders out there, what sort of oil are you using in your 1JZ's?
What sort of results have you had with certain oils and what would you recommend?
What sort of oils should i consider using with a High-revving motors which are built for drift?

Project megap00 - Gave up and sold up. Money tree died
...but then Matt hates all things JZ, so I wouldn't take his advice. It's damned lucky he actually puts any oil in it at all!

he just pre-mixes the oil and coolant.. saves time
Elf 10w40
nb: this depends a lot on how old your engine is, and if it uses oil
my 2j has ~60K kms on it. most 1js (non-vvti) are going to have double that, so a 15w50 might be a better bet for the street, and maybe something a little thicker (like what matt uses) for the track

hello
I'd probably recommend an oil cooler too.
I use Motul 10W40 personally.
Not sure of the benefits of 10W60 vs 10W40 in these high-abuse applications, but hopefully someone can enlighten us![]()

Currently using Penrite HPR10w50, seems to work fine, and is good value.
Teh UZA80 - Project Century - Remotely p00'd by association
I was also using Penrite HPR10w50 in my beams engine and it seemed to be good but i thought i had better use a full synthetic for better protection.
So now ive got nulon 10w-40 in it but i have noticed that the oil pressure when fully warned up and cruising at say 100kph is not as high as with the hpr10w50.
Now im confused as to what is the best to use, i heard the nulon is supposed to be the best value full synthetic about but if the penrite stuff guna do a better job then i could save $20 odd per oil change.
You changed oil weights as the same time as switching to synthetic... this would probably explain the lower oil pressure.
