also be a good place to put pictures taken at events
would be good to have a heap of threads for events where members can post the pictures taken (dyno days, nats, toyofest, track days) make them easy to find!
Cheers

I was thinking today that it might be a good idea to have a
photography section on the forums. I know that Toymods is a car
club but there seems to be a lot of interest in photography on the
forum.
I thought it might be a good idea to have a section where everyone
can post up hints and tips and possibly have a themed photo of the
week (plenty of car/club related potential) where the members can
vote for the best photo ETC.
The number of threads related to taking photos, buying cameras or
having someone to take pictures of the members cars is increasing so
I thought I'd just put the idea out there and see what everyone
thinks.

nostalgia is not what it used to be:
Yeah, good idea.
Make it a sub forum of non car disscussion though.

I like the idea of having a forum just for photos. I put up alot of photos from events and such, and they just seem to get lost once the thread has been pushed down, or several more pages are added.
I also agree that it should be a sub forum of the Non-Car Discussion, rather than its own forum.

It would be fun to have a monthly competition to.
Every month there is a 'theme' set and those that want to enter have to go and take a photo involving the monthly theme.
You then post the picture UN-EDITED and it thengoes to the vote as to who's pic is the best.
There could be prizes to.
Quarterly the monthly winners go in to another draw and whoever wins that gets a 1 year membership for free or if they are already a member they get a jacket or a couple of t-shirts.
Maybe it could even go as far as an annual competition to?
I think this would be a good way to bring the community even close together!

I think just having one entry per person, whether its been edited after wards or not if you want to have a monthly or even weekly theme.

I was thinking to have a photo of the week but monthly would be
good as well. If it were to go ahead and competitions were posted
obviously there would be rules stipulated and maybe there could be
certain times were the the comp asks for full photoshop, graphics etc
( I don't consider adjusting WB as being photoshoped) or just raw
images.
Nothings a 100% yet so the finer points can be discussed once the powers that be decide if it can actually happen. Just wanted to put the idea out there to test the water.

Could simply run a 26things monthly thing like I do on a couple of other forums. Good little idea, basically have 26 things to take photos of each month. Well 26 words to inspire photos anyway, not necessarily things.

You sometimes see on the photo forums stuff like:
"Oh yeah the tree looked bad there so I moved it and then turned the sky in to a sunset and then added this person in blah blah"
Its more like a composite of 10 photos and heavily edited to make it in to a good picture.
I think those kinds of pictures do have a place and I like to see the skill and imagination used but in the interest of fairness I think that it should not be allowed in a monthly compo.
It should be about people going out and using their imagination to take the best picture they can, this way it doesnt matter if you are a noob with a point and shoot and no photoshop programmes...you stand as much chance of winning as the bloke who went out with $2500 worth of SLR.
