I love my little Honda *pats B18C2*

But then I have a thing for revvy engines. I also own a 4A-GE in an AE86... so go figure.

Heh heh, yes, B18C2 and 4A-GE are not torque monsters.

    Anyway, back on the topic!

CoronaC, decided what you're gonna do yet?

Cams + cam gears + valve springs + extractors + exhaust + CAI + stand alone ECU seems to be the go. And I'd once again advise you to go manual. Auto sucks your power.

He hasn't even bought a 1UZ powered car yet.

He's looking at Celsiors from memory.
And in which case I'd HIGHLY suggest you keep it auto. Manual will ruin the feel of the car completely.

The rest of the suggestions are good.

Are vernier cam gears available for the 1UZ for adjustment of intake as well as exhaust cams?

I'm not sure if anyone actually has them available.

I'd be surprised if Kelfords weren't working on them, but I don't know if you can buy them yet.

They only have one cam-gear per bank, so I doubt it.

I know he hasn't gotten one yet. He can still decide on what mods he wants to do. In fact, that's kinda the point of this whole topic.

You're kidding right? Feel of the car? Driving an auto makes me want to get out and walk.

I imagine you'd have to adjust the exhaust cam and the intake cam at the same rate, looking at the head design of the 1UZ. I dunno much about cam timing, so would that be a serious problem? Advancing both the intake and exhaust at the same rate?

As for the availability, wouldn't know.

hes now looking at other options at he feels its gonna be too much work and cost to mod a 1uz.

The celsior is a luxo cruiser barge, a manual is not necessary and pretty pointless as your never gonna be using it for point to point caning through hills or on a track.
    If in doubt power out

    Go drive a 1UZ FFS.

Go drive an auto Celsior, and then go drive a manual one, and I GUARANTEE you you'll prefer the auto.

The Celsior was built as a cruiser. You put a manual in there, and you will drive it harder.
Ever tried to drive an 1800kg luxo cruise barge hard? It doesn't happen.

The cam to cam scissor gears could theoretically be made adjustable to allow independant adjustment of the intake cams from the exhaust cams and then the belt driven cam gears made adjustable in the conventional sense, giving full adjustability.

As I said to you before, as you advance one cam, you RETARD the other. and vice versa.

And the gears manny is talking about, is adjustable gears on the SCISSOR gears.
Or at least having the exhaust scissor gear adjustable, and then the main drive gear adjustable, thus being able to adjust the cams independently.

However, I have no idea how long ago that was written

I'm going to go against the grain here, I don't think it needs to remain an auto, but it depends what you want. Just because the car started off as a luxobarge, doesn't mean it can have some sporting nature about it, including a manual box. The car has stonk, it has decent suspension and decent brakes. It's not that dissimilar to your big German car ala previous model M5.
