bolt on blower kits, even if they just run sayy 6psi (ie less than half a BAR), could easily increase torque across the rev range by 30-40%.

while you may not be able to run more boost, and it may not be that much, it's still changing the characteristics of your 4L V8 to that of a 5.2 or 5.6L... and no turbo lag.

how much boost is all about tuning. you could run more boost with less advance and more fuel (for safety) and still get same power as a lesser boost anyway, but as to the actual number??

    Are they worth it?
For 6k you get something that bolts on, fits, gets you driving that night, needs no other upgrades (although I wouldnt do it without some exhaust work and a new fuel pump).

Are they worth it for the money?
Unless you do some proper tuning, I'd say no.
Thus far no one has a blower and a proper tune.
It will be interesting to see what one can acheive when one of the V8 Soarer boys finally forks out for a standalone ecu.

I remember seeing the price go up $1000 at one stage though, can't remember when, or what to/from.

Well my thoughts where more on how long the engine will last like that.
How's the response? I imagine with standard compression it'd be almost like N/A wouldn't it? Appart from having to spin the compressor.

you seem to miss the point of supercharging. response will be almost identical to NA if it is a suck thru TB setup. if it is blow thru, the response is arguably faster.
how long will it last? depends how often you boost it up, to what rpm, and how "safe" the tune is.. same with any engine.

And given a correct tune, and the internals of a 1UZ, a long time.

A guy with an SC400 with the TRD supercharger got 200rwkw at the last dyno day and it was still running fairly rich, pretty sure he only had 4-6 psi. Oh it sounded very nice too.

I knew it was better than a turbo, but I allways thought it wasn't quite as good as N/A. Interesting stuff.

Absolutely - I'd imagine the torque would be phenomenal. I just quoted their figures. Have seen one at Phillip Island at a sprint and the sound was glorious.

Really though, how much low end torque do you need? A bit of torque is good for day driving and flattening out your power band, but for going fast, power is where it's at.

    Are you sure of this?
I've never seen a TRD Supercharger for the 1UZ.
They only make them for the 2UZ, and that won't bolt to a nonVVTi 1UZ.

regardless it was a supercharged 1uz that made 198.6rwkw whilst running stuff all boost and still quite rich. The guy was from ALSC an elderly guy very friendly.

edit my bad: found pics of said setup doesn't say TRD rofl bad memory.

    Hehe, just an M90.
That badge on the charger that we can't read may say TRD, but its just the badge.
