    Question Gearbox/Clutch Problems?!

Hey Guys, im having some problems with the car not quite sure what it is, hoping you can help Camry sv21.

I had problems today changing into gear, the car was normally crunching(has been for years Toyota tough 440,000k syncros, gearbox), but today it really started to get stuck as i changed gears, when i got home to the driveway, i couldn't get into first gear. I pressed the gear forward to first and the car inched forward slowly and when i put the car in reverse, the car started pulling back while i had the clutch in, the car was moving backward with my foot holding the clutch down to the floor.

well its not a gearbox problem.
check that the slave is pushing the clutch fork properly, it should move about 20-25mm
if it is then remove the fork and get a new one as they crack where they sit on the pivot in the box.

if its not moving enough then check for leaks in the hydraulics, under the dash where the clutch rod goes through the firewall is a good spot to check. if you see fluid coming out then the maso is stuffed.

or pull the boot off the slave and see if there is fluid in there, if so the slave is shot.

    how old is the clutch?

    cheers

is the clutch system hydolic or cable, check if there is any adjustment (cable) or top up clutch master cyl and bleed slave cyl to see if that impoves the situation.
If that doesn't or you haven't replaced the clutch in the last 200,000 km you will need a new clutch and require the fly wheel machined.
    Hope that helps

Looks like a clutch problem clutch is at least two years old, the clutch is extremely soft straight to the floor with little effort, the only way i can drive the car is to turn off the ignition, put it in gear turn it on and it starts to drive, with no difference if you press or dont press the clutch the car just rolls forward.

    Cheers, Stephen.
