If you decide to ditch it ive heard nothing but good reviews from the Hybrid boost controllers. Theyre pretty cheap too.
Hey,
Im just wondering if anyone has had any experience with using the boost controller made up from norgren valves (the article was on autospeed)?
http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_0670/...popularArticle
Ive fitted one to my 1jz(ma61) and it causes boost spikes and no gain in faster boosting. Ive kept the hoses as short as possible but they are still considerably longer then stock (due to the fact the stock hoses are like 10cm long)
Ive bascially used just one valve, the pressure relief valve, as im happy to which my car boosts for now. All i want to do is get rid of some wastegate creep and bring boost on quicker.
But once i start to wind it in (to hold back more pressure) it hits boost cut too quickly. I can adjust it right out so the boost spike is below boost cut (around 13psi) but this doesnt increase the speed at which boost comes on.
My take on it is that the pressure is taking too long to hit the wastegates and its spiking. I dont know if this is caused by the valve or what?
From the little information i can find it seems that they normally work a treat maybe im missing something?
cheers
nathan

ya but i atleast wanna give the norgren a shot since i went to the effort and put it in etc
and the little bit of info floating around says the norgren should work fine
anyone got any ideas?
ive heard good things too, and went as far as calling the state rep to get part numbers for the valves that would suit my application, was a very exciting prospect with the adjustable gain control ect ect, turns out i bought a EBC a few weeks later![]()
...im sure you will sort it out.

I used a hyperboost for a while (which uses a norgen valve). It worked as it was supposed to, appeared to bring boost on quicker but like you I already ran the correct boost amount, I just wanted to bring it on quicker.
Ribfeast also used to use one and from what I remember, said it was very good on his car.
You need both valves for it to operate correctly. One sets how hard it hits (pressure relief valve), the other regulates it (pressure regulator valve). If you just use the relief valve you will just be inducing spikes and not regulating anything.

hmmmmm
my understanding of the regulator valve is that it restricts the output of air.
So when its done up it does not affect the flow not at all and when you wind it out it starts to restrict the flow hence increasing boost (less flow to wastegate)
How will this stop boost spiking? Cuz if the regulator is used to just reduce the output to the wastegates it wont change anything for boost spikes.
The reason its spiking is the pressure is taking to long to hit the wastegates (my assumption) once i start playing with the pressure relief valve.
