I've just looked up the 3S-GTE power figures.
'94 SW20 was supposedly 182kw (although this site has a note that it was run on an engine dyno at 199kw)
    '95 GT-Four was 190kw
    '98 Caldina GT-T was 193kw

The '94 Lancer EVO III had 199Kw
The '94 Impreza WRX had 191Kw

Of course, every dyno is different, and I dunno if you can trust factory figures. Also these sites might be wrong. But it seems the Gen 3 3S-GTE was right up there... I allways though it was the underdog. Makes me wonder about the SR20 with it's 162kw ('93+) and why everyone thinks it's such a great motor. *confused*

not really trying to start and argument but a quick search on the web came up with...

1994 1st European model 208 hp; Sti model, 247 hp; Type RA Sti, 271 hp
1992 1st year. Japan model with 237 hp
    2004 wrx 227hp@6000rpm

Originally introduced in 1992 in Japan, then shortly afterwards in Australia and Britain, the WRX had a turbocharged flat-4 2.0 L engine producing 155 kilowatts of power (208 horsepower). From the 1997 model and later model, the WRX offers 250 horsepower.

the gen3 3sgte with 255hp or so beats all but the sti and they are now 2.5L

one of these sites also had the evo 8 on it with 271hp@6500rpm but apparently its also runs 19psi of boost standard

mabye these are american crappy petrol figures or something but still..

Bleh, I don't even like WRXs. I just chucked it in as a comparison.

I have here than in 1992 the WRX was 176kw, and then in 1993 had 162kw... but in 1994 got upgraded to 191kw.

*shrug* who cares, I hate the boxer engine. But, the 1994 Lancer Evo 3 definatly had over 190kw.

just to clarify, the caldina 3SGTE is rated (in factory literature) as 190kw and 325Nm. i think it runs 12psi stock, compared to less in earlier versions..

its a gen 3 3sgte, made 165Kw at the fronts with standard everything except the airbox which is half the size of the one in the GT4 and the front heat exchanger which is also about half the size it should be.
takes a fair few mods to get the same power from an SR20 (or most other 2.0L motors)
ahh k... i unnerstand the dina is meant to be low 14's stock... but with a bit more weight
