well it looks the exact same as mine except i have an oil capbut ill have to get some one else to take the photo as i leave but i think almost all the gte ones are the same
Haha this is heaps funny no one has any idea.
as for changing oil, it comes out the bottom as usual and goes in through the breather hose that is attached to the rocker cover.
still no idea why it was done this way though, unless it is a GTE that has been re built without a turbo or something silly like that?/? i have no idea either......
but if people that have the different gen GE/GTE's put some pics up we should be able to work it out.

what is the best way to find out what model engine it is? if there is any cause that might solve the problem.

Read off the engine number, find the head part number and find the part number of the cover. Take to Toyota and they may answer.

That valve cover is definately not a gen1 3SGE and definately not a gen2 3SGTE.
Thinking its a gen1 3sgte, but i've never owned one of those motors so i cant speak from personal experience.
If you compare the gen 1 3SGTE to the original photos you'll see they are different for the reasons blakeg has outlined. So I guess that has narrowed it down, its a gen 2 3SGE cover thats been cut and welded
1jz68u - Grab the part number off the head and I'll try it in the EPC![]()
It is GEN2 3S-GE and thats what you do to fit them under a bonnet RWD.
But most of us put the oil cap back, just lower.
The dizzy looks like GEN 1 import upside down.
MATT.
umm silly question, where is the part number on the head?? i can get the part number off the dizzy to see what series that is.
they should right it on all the stuff that would make it so much easier![]()
may limit interchangability but hey...

i cant find it.
also have the part number for the dizzy its 19400-88363
unless i got the wrong number in which case i think its missing some numbers.

Engine number is on the side of the head, above where the gearbox bolts on. Since your 3sge is mounted North/south it might be hard to see!
