    Default R154 Rebuild Questions

    Hey there,

I am currently in the process of changing from 1jz auto over a R154 gearbox. However my R154 requires a rebuild and because I imported the gearbox, I have no idea what platform its from nor a VIN number to order new synchros.... To add to my problems, Hobart Toyota are telling me they no longer are able to source any parts for imported toyotas. So basically he has quoted me on MA70 R154 synchros, to get to the point, are MA70 R154 boxes the same (well more to the point, are R154 gearboxes the same through out the range, full stop??) as all other platforms?

The MA70 syncro part numbers are:

    3336835020 (listed 3 times)
    3336735010 (listed 2 times)

I have no idea which ones are for which gears, however the one ending in 20 is also used for 5th gear, problem is that there is 3 different part numbers for 5th gear. I can only guess that its a similar situation to Nissan rear main seals - multiple part numbers for the exact same part?

If anyone can shed any light on the synchro differences then id be very greatfull

    Cheers, Dan.

you can source bearings and syncro's for either a R151F or R150 (landcruisers) as they are interchangeable. i myself am in the process of rebuilding my spare r154.

Don't know if it will help, but I just bought a complete synchro and bearing set from here (about halfway down) http://www.mdcmotorsports.com/welcome_to_the_supra.htm , cost me a smidge under $300aud including postage, although that was a couple of weeks back now and the aussie dollar has slumped a bit since then.. He had one in stock when i ordered and it only took 5 days to get here.

if you strip the box, and find out what you need. you'll probably find most, if not all of what you want should have part numbers on it anyways. and if you cross reference it against the pics provided above you should get a fair idea of what the box came from.
