Does the enigne have a cranking rpm, if so is it erratic and what rpm is it cranking at
Does it have fuel and spark?
The 3sgte is a pretty popular engine, surely the wolf site or a wolf rep would be able to give you a basemap to get you started?
As some of you know I bought Jacks old motor. Before I put it in my car I sold the Wolf V3 that came with it as I already had a V4. I neglected to note down all the configuration data before letting it go.
Anyways, the motor is in and wired up and won't start. Initially I thought it was the cam position sensor not wired up properly, but after exhaustive searching on the net it appeared to be right. However, still not trusting it i adapted the crank angle sensor and trigger plate I had previously used on the 3T-GTE and configured the ecu appropriatly. Still no go! and this was without touching the ignition output/ coils et. I had used previously so I knew they worked. I checked the various sensors to make sure they were working.
So I have no idea what to do! I'm cracking the shits and considering buying a 180! Hahaha
Anyone have any ideas?

Can you contact the bloke to get the setup info off it?
Or someone help the man out and just run into the garage and grab them off your wolf running 3SGTE for him.![]()
My rotary goes Buuuuuzzzzzzzz!
3sgte uses a similar CAS/trigger setup as many other toyotas (24 tooth wheel at cam speed plus a 2 tooth wheel with one or two sensors) - 7mgte and 1GGTE some to mind but also 3SGxx... not sure why you would trash that in favour of an older setup?
Are you getting an RPM signal?
do you have power to the igniter and ECU during cranking
are any of the injectors firing during cranking?
is the timing right (or can the dizzi be fitted 180 degrees out) for the CAS?
Nah chuck, he it came with version 3 and he had a ver4 from another engine hes trying to get the ver 4 to work.

it's this bit
which suggests he also swapped to a different trigger....However, still not trusting it i adapted the crank angle sensor and trigger plate I had previously used on the 3T-GTE and configured the ecu appropriatly
but i also noticed the upgrade thing
wolf have a serial port and PC-application? should be as easy copying onto laptop from old ECU, then noting down the relevant detailsm, then creating new file or modifying a base map (editing something that's not working is not a wise thing). Am assuming you can peruse the map/conf file offline with the ECU present.
I feel like such a noob!
At some point while i was dicking about the fuse for the injector feed must have blown! Although I checked for voltage at the injector plugs with the ignition on and I guess I mistook the voltage from the injector drivers (They must work on potential difference and don't just switch to ground?) for a good clean feed. Shit! I wasted all weekend trying to figure out what was wrong, chasing a erm, technical fault when it was something as simple as that!
Oh yeah, I might even go back to the cam sensor so I can run sequential ignition...
you goose!!![]()

no, they need a good earth for them to open. That's what the ECU provides - an earth to draw current thru the injector which makes it open up and fuel flow.Originally Posted by ONCE-NA
If you were measuring resistance between one side of a low-Z injector and ground (chassis) and the engine wasn't running, you'd get a high resistance.
maybe you measured something else?
I was just measuring voltage at the injector plug with the ignition on... Oh well it works now! Thanks for the input guys...
