I dont know about the 4ac, but mine just pulls off, give it a light tap with a rubber mallet or similar and it should just pull off by hand.

are there 2 bolt holes in it to use a crank timing pulley puller? that was the easiest/only way to do it on the 2j

should just come off, its probly seized on, try to get to screw drivers and put pressure on both sides, they can be very hard to come off.

in that case I'd be tempted to skip the rubber mallet. soak it in inox and give the front of it a gentle tap with a hammer. the gentle shock should unstick it.

Last resort without breaking the oil pump using the lever bar is to tap and drill two holes in the pulley. Then use a bearing puller.

However you will need to purchase a new pulley from mr toyota. i had to do this. Maybe check the keyway and see if its still aligned with the pulley.

Hurrah hurrah - pulley has now been removed, everything has been dropped, cleaned (a bit), new seal installed and shoved back together. Now I have no excuse not to go to work tomorrow

a CRC spray every 15 miunutes, heating with a butane torch every now and again (don't know whether that helped or not) ... a cold chisel wedged between the pulley and the oil pump on the left (there's a ridge you can pivot on) and liberal "heavy tapping" of the chisel to see-saw the pulley off slowly but surely did the trick until there was enough room behind the puley to get an ordinary three handed puller onto it. Took me a couple of hours of patient slow-and steady work ... Crikey - goes back together bloody easy though!

    cheers,
