The aristo fan and rad is not that big , It fits in a MX83 with a few mods, MZ12 = bigger than MX83
yep, SPD2 is coming from the MZ12 instrument cluster. i ended up running a cable instead of the sensor in the rear housing. the 6M ecu had a SPD input so i connected that to the SPD pin on the JZ ecu. the OD light isnt flashing so i presume everything is working in spec.

I tried it in my MA61, way way too tall due to the pointy nose; installation would have required cutting a slot in the bonnet or allowing the blades to drag on the ground. I suspect there may be similar issues in an MZ12. It's a shame though, that fan would have solved all cooling issues!

Yes it is about 70mm wider and 40 mm taller than a mx83 one . But yes cooling is 200% even with the A/C on full.
Spd 1 is from the dash not sp2 sp2 is from the 4 pole reluctor at he rear left of the aristo gearbox.

same deal for me, tried it, waay to high
hello
i think the auto gearbox is just about farked.
driving home on the highway today it was going from 3RD to 4TH and back randomly.
a couple of these problems were noted at day 1.
other issues:
-in reverse, it will engage and move the car, then at about 8kmph it will drop out and then randomly drop back in, spinning the wheels.
-put the gearstick in L and it will drop in and out between 2nd and low.
-put it in second and it will go between 1st, second and third.
im running the castrol dex III in it but i dont know if toyota type IV will fix the issue.
the oil that came out of the box was very tanned and smelt like clutch material.
im also going to bin the hydro fan setup and go with the twin AU thermos.
maybe try install the factory 3 core after some repair work
hello
Time for a V160Ring up the bozo's you got the halfcut from, and get them to send you a replacement under warranty. But you sure you dont have the gear shifter linkages in the wrong spots?? If they are borderline between L/2 etc then the box wont know which gear you want to be in, and will keep jumping between them. Wasnt such a problem with the spring loaded mechanical shifting boxes, but with computer controlled ones, could be a bit of a drama.

you seem to be obsessed with the V160.
auto is perfect for what i want (quick off the mark, can eat and do other shit while driving)
and i didnt get a half cut, only an engine/box/ecu/loom package.
hello
did you get a warranty??
And yeah, a car isnt a car unless it has a clutch, and the back wheels put power to the groundI can eat/drink while driving a manual... just means I need to use my knees to hold the steering wheel while changing gears
Amazing the driving skillz you pick up when delivering pizzas

AU should be good.Originally Posted by brett_celicacoupe
You won't have a factory 3 core only MZ10 got them as far as I've seen...
Btw you are checking the auto trans level with the engine running right

got the fans, looks like it will be a neat fit on the MX73 radiator.
it interesting to note that the cooling efficiency of the fan gets worse with road speed. i was winding it on the highway on the way home today and kept it in the 3rd and boosted it up every 1/2minute or so to 'test' the cooling system. the temp kept going up even though the fan was screaming its tits off.![]()
maybe it needs the under body cover to stop high speed driving turbulence??
the engine is also going to come out soon to fix a couple issues. all it needs for engineering is a boss to be ground off the bellhousing as it is touching the fuel line. its a boss with a M6 thread that holds the gearbox loom in place. possibly just reward of the bellhousing.
another issue ive noticed today is my power steering hose has failedand not were my ghetto spec braze join was. where the flexible hose goes into the compresssion union thing, there is fluid weeping out.
other issues;
air filter pipe needs to be fastened to the body
needs a bigger trans cooler
gearbox and torque converter needs to be flushed and serviced
wiring needs to be tidied up and dash put back together
need to install the 3.9 MA61 LSD
hello
Cooling fans do very little when the car is moving at speed, even the best fan can't match the speed of the air rushing past the car. If the temp is rising while the car is underway you either have an undersized cooling system or there is inadequate airflow getting to the radiator. I have the same dramas with my MA61, and after trying a number of approaches I feel extra ventilation is the only thing which will fix it to my satisfaction. At some point in the near future I will be butchering the bonnet and fitting dirty great vents.

are you running a under engine cover?
its possible that the air rushing under the bumper at speed is curling up into the engine bay making it a high pressure region. high enough pressure that the fan is having a hard time getting air through the radiator.
i also have a condensor mounted in front of the radiator which i assume you do not.
the MZ12 bumper is bloody restrictive as it is. when the engine comes out im going to open the bumper up a bit
hello
underbody tray will help cooling issues
i also think the MZ1x would benefit from a tray from bottom trailing edge of the front bar going back to the bottom of the radiator support panel.
Most of the air hitting the grill of the car is going to thru it then head downwards an under the car. If you can allow air to come thru the grill (at a fairly high pressure/speed), allow it to expand (and slow down) into a larger void before travelling thru the FMIC and radiator, both those coolers are going to work more efficiently.
the gearbox is now a 2 speed piece of junk
no more 1st, 4th or reverse![]()
i took a sample of the fluid. its castrol dex III and its been in there since tuesday last week. the fluid that came out of the trans when i bought the motor was much the same colour. there would have been a litre of old oil left in the torque converter that contamined the new stuff that i put in but not enough to discolour it that bad.
im picking up another 2JZ tomorow (NA spec) and its got a w58 bellhousing with it. damn its tempting to go manual, just for the simplicity of the thing.
i put a undercover engine on today but it didnt seem to improve things at all.
what to do....sigh
