Is it an early one or a later one? Yellow plugs or grey??
Retractor unit sounds like something for the headlights, not the engine.
Hi guys. I am currently working on a 1ggte/ ra28 conversion.
Trying to get my head around the loom at the moment and have a few simple questions.
A black unit, labelled 'retractor unit', what does it do?
ECU main relay. Where will i find it?
Anyone who has done this before, did you use the fusebox form the 1g?
Any other tips, hints or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Its a late model, gen 3 engine out of a late 88 model i believe.
My assumption was that it was for headlights, but i thought i would get some confirmation. thanks
Have you seen the 1GGTE ECU connector pdf files? Do a quick search on the old forums and you should find plenty of info.
Hope this helped ya out.
Thanks d-master. I have copies of the 1G-gte pin-outs etc from the old toymads forums. I actually feel like i have exhausted all of the online wiring info i can find.
Most of what is on the old sites shows the engine side of the loom, however, some of the other wiring of the car is ommitted. Thanks anyway, if anyone could clarify just what the retractor unit is for it would be greatly appreciated. tom
Retractor unit has nothing to do with the engine.

Sorry, I should've clarified. I'm fairly sure the retractor unit is for the headlights, but it definetly has nothing to do with the engine.

Thanks guys. consider the retractor unit gone....
If ya get stuck, just give us a holler. I've just redone a Gen3 1GGTE loom on my car, so it's all kinda fresh.

Thanks mate, really appreciate that. I think i am going ok at the moment, as the new school semester has started, i am able to spend less time working on cars and more at work so progress is slowing a little but ill let you know how i go. Think i have the fuel pump and circuit opening relay stuff sorted, still not sure bout the ECU main relay though? Is this the round relay in the fuse box labellled 'main'? Also unsure about which wires to use to run power to the fuel pump? There are some heavy gauge ones in the section of the loom which ran down the sill to the rear of the car? Could these be the ticket? thanks
Yep, the main relay is the one in the fuse box that says MAIN. Just run your own wires, cant hurt to have something fresh given the age of the car.
