If you Piston gudgen pin is lubricated via the Oil control ring scraping Oil from the Walls, then I'ld say any power gained will be offset by Higher Friction at the pin.
I want to know if crank scrapers are just another load of crap or would they be a benafit to a 4a engine?

there is something to it.
reduces the amount of oil that stays attached to the crank, or whirling around..
maybe means more oil in sump, less foam, a bit less heat etc...
worth looking into for higher rpm for sure.
what does the 4A have stock? windage tray?

4A has windage tray and a very basic crank scraper stock.

the windage/scraper set in most GE's should be good enough for most applications but if your worried about stuff like that you would probly be better off setting scrapers up with a drysump system IMO.

Yes the Piston pin is still lubricated two-ways.Oil holes in the piston below the pin centerline do vey little. The oil must be scraped from the oil ring land and forced into the upper pin area when the piston is on the intake stroke while the walls are being cleared of excess oil.
This allows the oil to collect between the top part of the pin and the top of the piston boss to act as a cushion while going through the compression and firing stroke. This is the highest load contact point that the piston and pin see during the cycle. Having an adequate supply there leads to much extended pin and piston life.
The area below the pin is considered a low-load area. The highest load seen there is during the intake stroke which is nowhere near the loads during the actual firing stroke.
The heaviest load between the piston and pin is seen after firing the charge. For this reason the top of the pin needs the oil supply to be at the top of the piston. Exactly opposite conditions apply to the connecting rod eyes. Here the load is highest at the bottom!
Never made much sense having oil holes in pistons below the pin at the outer pin bosses or with rods having a feed hole above the eye.

a scraper could negate that. though with the 4age they do have squirters on some versions and on the rods.
im not sure how much of an effect the scraper would have on that, or weather the pins ae a factor in that respect. byond my knowledge.

There are measurable gains to be had between an engine with no scraper and an engine with a good scraper design.
It will not add any more friction to the gudgeon, there will be no offset in power gain anywhere. Having said that Takai has pointed out already that the 4AGE has a crank small crank scraper and windage tray as std.

Most Engines since the 1980's have the Oil level below the Crankshaft's rotation and since the 1990's have baffles to contain the Oil there during cornering, accel and deccel.
