    Default How to remove AE86 Ignition Barrel

    Any ideas? Trying to swap one over, but can't figure out how to pull it out.

    Its attached to the steering column and has pins that come out so the steering lock can be enabled. You might need to pull the column out especially to make life easier but im pretty sure you can drill two pins out that hold it on. How you will fasten the new one back onto the column whilst in car is beyond me.

    so you can't change the barrel by itself?

    Most of the later toyotas have a little nipple on the bottom of the barrel. When the ACC is switched on, depress the nipple with a screwdriver and the barrel pulls out. Not sure about the AE86.

    I can confirm the AE71 and KE70's have the little button on the barrel like the AE92's etc for removing just the keybarrel. I'd expect the AE86 to have the same.
