Actually my alternator is quite easy to get at now that I've done the single conversion, but yeah I don't want to be fixing it constantly. I'll ask the guy what he used in the rebuild, he's coming over on Wednesday.

Alternator guy came over today, of course when I started the engine the bastard worked perfectly. It was completely dead yesterday.

Anyway he took it away to bench test it, hopefully something will come of it. Oh and he said he used a genuine regulator in the rebuild.

If the reg was say 180 the brushes 12 and the bearings 20, i dont think he,d rebuild it for 60 odd bucks. most auto elecs just use non gen regs as there bout $80

Well my little unpaid holiday has finally come to an end (7 weeks, ouch) so I called the dyno guy to arrange a time for tuning. He can't fit me in until after Easter so there will be no Supra at the nationals this year.

Not much progress to report, I got the idle valve hooked up, properly mounted the Haltech (under the carpet on the passenger side), put the interior back together, a few other little "tidy up" jobs, so it's starting to look like a proper car again. I'm itching to see what my new engine combo is capable of now, although I'm a big worried about the clutch holding up on the dyno if I get near the projected 500rwhp mark.

Yes yes, hindsight and all that. At the time I didn't think I'd be doing the big single conversion so soon. In any case it's just a matter of buying a ceramic drive plate, a day's work and it's in.

what clutch is in it now? if its a single then try as you might but even a ceramic wont hold 350+rwkw for very long no matter what, id give it 6 months tops if driven regularly.

Clutch is pretty much stock with increased clamp pressure. I know a guy with a ceramic single-plate clutch in his JZA80, and with a GT42 and bullshit power it's still holding up nicely even with circuit racing.

I went for a drive to Slacks Creek yesterday, approx 20 minutes down the freeway. The AFR gauge was indicating low 10's for most of the trip. Half a tank of fuel disappeared rather quickly, and not surprisingly the plugs fouled up pretty bad - although a quick squirt on boost seemed to fix it up.

I also tested the 2-step rev limiter on the MSD which I recently hooked up, it works awesome! If I ever get around to taking this thing to the drags it will be invaluable; boost off the line FTW.

Before anyone asks, tuning is still a ways off. I'm getting married next month so there's too many other things to worry about at the moment. Maybe 2-3 months if all goes well.

You sound overly optimistic for someone getting married
