I was going to be a smart ass and quote something you said on PF to RZ about 5 years ago when you first finalised the 2j conversion. It was something along the lines of "I love the stock twins how they build boost so early"

RZ: you just wait until you get the urge to go single
Norbie: I can't see myself needing more than this for a while

Looks like the bug has bitten finally Homo PF only goes back 20 pages of posts which is still 07. BTW forumswhore

Well I guess 5 years qualifies as "a while".

As for updates, I've been doing lots of fiddly wiring stuff which isn't very exciting but certainly necessary. I'm also nearly finished with the fuel system, surge tank and pumps are mounted, rubber lines are in place, just need to finish off the Speedflow + braid stuff. Hopefully I'll have some pics by the end of the weekend.

im sorry if its been mentioned before, but im slack and tired.

but is there any need, or have you, checked the legalities of having such a large vessel of fuel in the engine bay?

I put it there because it was the easiest option, and I'm naturally lazy. I'm not sure on legalities but it can't be any worse than putting it in the boot. At least this way it's separated from the passengers by a firewall.

Tank is mounted between the passenger side strut tower and firewall, pumps are bolted to the chassis rail just below it.

I reckon if there's an accident severe enough to crush the surge tank there, leaking fuel will be the least of my worries!

Got a few more pics of the progress I'm making.

    Blinged up with Speedflow:

    Surge tank mounted:

    Fuel regulator:

Fuel pump (there's actually two hidden down there):

And this part I'm especially proud of, the fuse and relay platform:

Looking good Norbie but in all honesty i don't like the surge in the engine bay. The chance for mishap is just too high and pretty sure that'll be an instant defect if ever spotted (not a big issue considering the rest of the car i guess).

Any leak, or the tank cracks and that's alot more fuel vapour than you want with a glowing hot turbo next door......just my 2 cents.

fwiw: i remember seeing some Italian car (lancia i think, am not good with Italian marques) with hatchback at a QRC event. It had an in-car filler and pumps, so at the back seat they used a perspex divider to separate in-car fuel stuff from the cabin.

They obviously had the roll cage to provide some support for this divider. The lower section from about top-of-seat height to hatch floor was metal.

Doing this would make the supra even less useful for carrying stuff.

I thought long and hard about the surge tank location, but decided in the event of a mishap I'd rather have a fuel leak on the other side of the firewall than in the cabin with me. Unfortunately with a hatchback there's no easy solution.

The wiring adventures continue, and I'm almost at the point where I can turn the key and hope like hell something happens (apart from fire).

One important mystery remains though, how to hook up the crank and cam angle sensors to the Haltech? The manual is worse than useless, has anyone hooked up a Haltech to a JZ engine?
