    Default FMIC's

Hey guys, ANy thoughts on the cooling differences that a 600x300x100mm FMIC will offer over a 600x300x78???

    Thinking of going thicker

what is wrong with your current setup? what are your temps before and after the cooler currently?

Just searching for any info people might have.. Flow losses across certain types of cores and stuff.

probably not much but it may do something.
have you checked to see what losses your getting atm.
just put a pressure guage on either side of the cooler and do a run on the dyno.
also swap the guages to the other side to check the accuracy, after you do the runs you could then average out the readings to come up with a psi loss then using a rough fly/hp estimate how much airflow in pounds per min then you would be able to figure out roughly the losses through the cooler.
or just "upgrade" and hope it did something.
    cheers

If you have the room and it doesnt cause any issues with piping needing redone or cutting up the car why not go bigger. They are only what $300?

sometimes you can cause probs going bigger ie: reduced flow to rad=hotter engine temps.
thats why i always see if there is a prob with whats there b4 "upgrading" to something that may cause issues elsewhere.
its like going to a thicker rad and then having to put thermos on, sometimes when you do the car will overheat because the thermos wont pull the required airflow through the rad core that an engine fan would.

its much like putting 30psi through std turbos (that are meant for 7psi) half the time you wont make any more power cause it puts to much heat into everything else.

    cheers

Room wouldnt be an issue, and wouldnt affect cooling as i dont have the fmic right against the radiator.. In fact there is quite sufficient room between the 2. The luck of owning a soarer with a long snout i guess.

its not really the distance between the 2 that is a worry, more that the air getting to it is further restricted, and already hot
