MA61 heater Resistor question

Hey guys, bit of a long shot but heres the story.

My fan speed 'low' stopped working about a month ago and i came across this site. All other speeds including Auto work perfectly (execpt there's no Auto Low speed obviously).

So i pulled out my heater resistor (which is located here on the MA61) and sure enough it looked VERY ordinary as you can see below.



So i got the one off the parts car which was different, it looked like this.



My problem is that the broken resistor i pulled off my car is a 5 pin plug and the parts car is a 4 pin plug.



I then ran the part number which was on the MA61 parts car resistor through the EPC and that came back as a MA61 item.
The broken resistor which came from my car didn't have a part number on it.

Other part numbers for the Resistor (MA61, RA61, AA63, TA60) include...
87138-14061
87138-24010
87138-24011

What im more likely leaning towards though is that the resistor is from a RA60 or a 65. Or more so that some parts of my heater system (electrics included) are infact RA60/65 parts instead of MA61 (which is not surprising considering the car).

But the real question is (if anyone knows) what does that broken resistor come out of????

P.S, no im not going re-wire or install proper MA61 heater parts in it. It was working perfectly up untill 1 month ago.

did you plug it in? does it work? if mine shits itself i think i will be installing a continuously variable fan speed control (meh, ill probably just stop using the speed that breaks)

you can repair it by just criming the wires together, how long it will last i can't say!

No, i didn't plug the parts car MA61 resistor in due to the difference in plugs. Wouldn't hurt though i spose. I'll give it a go 2moro aswell as trying to join the break in the coil.

Low rent solution is to unwind the coil enough to solder back to the tab

Failing that a crimp might work. The wire gets hot enougth to glow so it might melt your solder

Also you will have buckleys soldering to it. The solder won't want to stick to it

Ok had a look at my parts & the resistor with the coil's on the left is MA61
The other has been Mod. to a 6 pin plug, to fit a MA61 Not..
The one with the ceramic resistor was probably, from a RA65 or RT142 as the RA60 has wire coils's.. But all have a 4 pin plug, & long wire's..
You will need to find a car (try a Cressada.) with climate control, or gen. MA61 part..
The extra wire on the resistor is for the Auto climate control, so a resistor from a car with out climate control will not work.

Turns out Shiney Blue Steel was on the money. Despite the old 5 pin plug and loom, the 4 pin MA61 plug worked a treat! I'm not even going to question why or how. It works and thats all i care about
