    Default Paint stripper on fibreglass??

Currently sanding back a fibreglass body for a respray and there are a few very difficult panels that need sanding back.
What happens if you use paintstripper on on a fibreglass panel??
Will it soften the gel coat? or the resin itself?
The glass is more than 10 years old so is nice and set, however i cant really risk softening it.

Anyone know for sure what the go is??

    Cheers

it will most likely eat into the resin or at best craze it a little, in any case, would do more harm then good.

Just have a "strip" party (paint stripping that is), invite a few mates (the hard workers not the slackers) provide beer and abrasive materials - it'll be done in no time.

Just be sure to keep an eye on their work

Would Bead\sand\soda blasting work in this instance? I have never tried, maybe depends on the thickness of the fibrglass, perhaps at a low pressure? Might have to try this myself now.

Ive seen the results of a bead blasted fiberglass body, it wasn't pretty. All the gel coat was removed and had to be replaced by hand, then sanded back to smooth before the car was painted.

yeah not a bad idea except im trying to do this one myself, just to ensure i get the good finish i desire.
Problem is the piece im reffering to is a louvered engine lid, so many tights corners!!!
i wonder if the bead blasting idea on very low pressure would provide a good start and then hand finish it......
Just bought a sand blaster on the weekend, maybe i should assemble it and try that.....
